I Gua-ruh-ntee!

Yesterday I looked at a pretty nice one bedroom in Long Island City:

  • 3 blocks to the Vernon-Jackson 7 Train - check
  • Across the street and with a view of the dog run - check
  • Nice roof-deck with Manhattan views - check
  • Relatively recent construction and new appliances - check
  • Dog friendly - check
  • No brokers fee - bonus!

It’s slightly smaller than our current place, but the layout is a bit better, so I think we’d still be comfortable; and it’s much nicer. Of course, I discover the “catch” right before submitting an application and dropping a hefty fee to hold the apartment (this is becoming a pattern). Jakobson Properties (aka nofeerentals.com) requires a guarantor with their apartment applications. Not just for the unemployed or for recent grads with no credit/rental history, but for people with good jobs. Sorry. I’m a big boy and pay my rent on time. I’m not going to ask someone else to put their neck out on the line for me, as well. My record speaks for itself. I guarantee.
