This is Broken: Subway Intercom Sign

One blog I enjoy reading is This is Broken, which highlights poorly designed interfaces (broadly interpretted: signage, policy, customer service, etc.) that lead to poor customer experiences. This signage at the W 103rd B/C subway stop is broken. If you look up, you see this sign to the customer service intercom:


If you follow the arrow down to the yellow sign on the column, you see:

So, um, press where exactly? Only when you wander around the beam in confusion do you see the actual intercom:
