Lizz was doing some research on dog licenses and a search engine landed her on the NY City Clerk’s Marriage Bureau FAQ page where we learn that first cousins can get married in New York, however a descendent cannot marry an ancestor. I’m pretty sure that there are quite a few states where that’s ok. In fact, I think a state or two were thinking about re-instating the ability to legally marry cousins.
