Anchors Away
Late last night, in a borrowed car (ours, sensing its end, died prematurely last week), I dropped Lizz off with her suit case and a one way ticket to New York City at the Amtrak station in Toledo. She’s on an impossible mission to secure a job and an apartment in less than three weeks. To complicate matters, I don’t have a full-time gig (though lots of opportunities for consulting/freelance), and we require a dog-friendly landlord and neighborhood. So far, we’re looking closely at all hoods surround Prospect Park, Fort Green Park, the Brooklyn Heights dog run and McCarren Park. I’m also trying to convince Lizz to check out Astoria, which reportedly has a sweet dog run, is as close in as over-heated Brooklyn neighborhoods, and not as pricey. Assuming she succeeds (in at least the homefinding portion of her mission), I’ll be packing up and heading out some time around Labor Day. Right now everything is up in the air and I am terrified. And excited.

Crisis? Or opportunity? Hope it turns out; I suspect it will.

best of luck finding a place…. if I still had friends in New York, I’d have them help in the apartment search. unfortunately, almost everyone I knew there has since gotten out. And, the ones that are left, I don’t think would be much help… Sorry.

Thanks for the good intentions, mark. Lizz just dropped a deposit on a place in Greenpoint (north of Williamsburg in Greenpoint).
