We’re All Journalists Activists Now
I asked George if he wanted to go to the Grassroots Use of Technology Conference and he replied, “I’m not really an activist.” Not only is George an activist, he’s a community organizer. In the same way that new technologies are making media more participatory, they have the potential to make organizing and activism more paticipatory, open and community-centric. Much activism and organizing has copied the broadcast media. And like the ‘net is challenging broadcast paradigms, traditional organizing and activism is challenged, too. Check out projects like CivicSpace, Citizen Speak, and companies like EchoDitto to get a feel for where this train is heading…
